At 4 am in a charming village located in Valais called Arolla marks the departure time of the 21st edition of the Patrouille des Glaciers. This legendary race has long been reserved as a part of the military training for the Swiss Army but as a result of the beauty that the alpine environment has to offer, this activity is now opened to seasoned athletes.
The program for the day is a 1 914 m climb, 2 374m descent, 26km distance and all at an altitude of approximately 3 500m. This is not a problem for our 3rd year Bachelor student Naika. She explains to us her experience of this event:
"The race went well overall. The course was longer and harder than expected but the atmosphere between teams and especially with my teammates was very motivating!"
Her team was able to finish in Verbier after 8 hours and 20 minutes, not bad for participating for the first time. Congratulations to you !
