Belgian Gastronomic Fortnight, Vatel international cuisine

Cynthia Abi Khalil and Antoine Swaelus, 2nd year students of the bachelor international class, worked during 5 weeks of their practical courses to organize the gastronomic fortnight Vatel international cuisine under the theme of Belgium.

Twice a year, this cultural event, takes place in Hotel Vatel Martigny. The theme chosen enables students, clients, teachers and staff to discover a new culture and a different tradition of one of the 41 Vatel campuses around the world

The two students had the opportunity to execute a Belgian atmosphere in the integrality of the hotel. The decorations of Vatel restaurant were modified to create the atmosphere of a local brasserie, a new menu was generated including a wide selection of most famous Belgian beers and typical dishes from different cities in Belgium

In addition to that, they coordinated and planned a unique and successful event with the presence of Eric Boschman, well known Belgian comedian and sommelier, he exclusively arrived from Brussels to present his Wine man Show « Ni Dieux ni Maîtres mais du Rouge » in front of more than 80 joyful participants.

In conclusion, Cynthia gives us her final impression on this experience: « It was a very enriching experience. Working with three Belgian people, my colleague Antoinemy F&B Manager M.Schenkel and our General Manager M.Defalque, I did not only learn and improve on the professional level but I also discovered in depth a new inspiring and rich culture that I fell in love with. »
