An impeccable technique with immediate effectiveness, without forgetting passion: the Geneva Hotel de la Paix HR Manager tells us about the qualities she sees in Vatel interns and alumni she hires.

In this interview she shared with passion her working life, her position as a HR Director and also the new Management of Hôtel de la Paix by The Ritz Carlton group.

Indeed, since last year, Hôtel de la Paix has been Managed by the luxury brand of Marriot group which count over than 4000 hotels all around the world.

Your beginning in the Hospitality industry?

" After having graduated from the Hotel school, I was looking for an internship to end my education program. I was lucky when the Four seasons Geneva offered me a start as a reservations agent. I passed through different departments: Front Office, the Conciergerie, Guests relations until the HR department when I worked as an HR Assistant.

The Management was indeed encouraging the cross training from department to another. That allowed me to have a global vision of the hotel organisation just like during the Vatel practical coursesAfter 10 years in this company, I started a training in order to acquire experience in Human resources. In 2014 Hotel de la Paix contacted me for the position of HRD.

 

Is they any change between the Management by The Ritz Carlton from the Management by Concorde?

Our human resources were very well prepared to the change. We always had teams with the love of the profession. Hotel de la Paix and the Ritz Carlton share exactly the same values, it is the same DNA. That is why the change comes naturally. 

 

Do you think that that The Ritz Carlton have a preference for special profiles ?(values, typical training etc.)    

We first look for potential. Even though the expertise is welcome, it can always be acquired, while the smile in the eyes more complicated. We look for people with integrity, devotion and passion, who are please to help others. If we feel this fib during the recruitment process, we are ready to train them.

The Ritz Carlton indeed goes far in the approach around the employee. He is in the center of the global strategy and the company culture. The group also offers multiples E-learning system and various training to contribute to the advancement of the collaborator career.

 

Could you please Introduce your profession?

In the HR department, employees are our guests, we follow and listen to them from the beginning to the end of their job. Our main missions :      

  • Talent Management : We focus a lot in our recruitment procedure. The idea is to attract the good talent and hold him in the company.                                              
  • We also have a huge responsibility with the legal dimension. It is the foundation of this craft : be sure the employee rights are respected.

Adaptability, Human, versatility are the key words of this profession where there is no typical day.

 

What do you think about the Vatel training model?

It is quite a good philosophy and concept that we totally share. Furthermore it is much closer from our Management training for young graduated : "Voyage", based on the same principle of the discovery of all the department of the hotel.

We believe that :

There is no better school than practical.

For instance when we look for an intern we need people rapidly operational and efficient. For all these reasons we particularly appreciate the Vatel model.

 

What kind of profiles are you currently recruiting?

We are currently recruiting for different position in the F&B department. Furthermore for the official opening of Ritz-Carlton we will look for profiles for the Front Office department."
