Hugo Guidot experience of Marco Polo

Hugo Guidot ,a young French boy, went to Switzerland to study hotel management at Vatel Martigny. He spent his entire second year in Mauritius, still at Vatel, thanks to the Marco Polo exchange program.

Hugo Guidot experience of Marco Polo

After a high school diploma in economics and social science in Strasbourg, Hugo Guidot joined Vatel Switzerland with the aim of learning the Hospitality and tourism profession.

“My application in Vatel Switzerland had been motivated by:
- the Swiss reputation inside the hospitality industry,
- the worldwide presence of Vatel,
- the partnerships between the school and regional and worldwide hotels,

I have done my 1st year internship for the 5 star hotel President Wilson, at the Bayview Restaurant by  Michel Roth. Thanks to the Marco Polo program I have been able to integrate into Vatel Mauritius for my second year of the Bachelor in International Hotel Management Program.

Moving to Mauritius Island

Although the destination is ideal, it was the contact with the international clientele which motivated Hugo in order to choose Mauritius campus as the main option: “hospitality demands us to be curious, determined and able to work with different cultures”.

This 1 year abroad in Vatel Mauritius allowed me to meet friends and colleagues from different nationalities and customers with very particular demands.

Already on the spot, Hugo chose to broaden his knowledge in hotel resorts by accomplishing an internship as assistant food and beverage manager at the Constance Hotels and Resorts.

Then back to Switzerland for the 3rd and last year of the Bachelor Program.
