STUDENT VISA TO ENTER SWITZERLAND
( FOR NON UE STUDENTS)
Students who wish to attend Vatel Switzerland have to submit the following documents:
- 3 visa application forms, duly filled in, dated and signed
- 4 recent passport photos in colour, with white background, size 3.5cmx4.5cm
- 2 photocopies of the first 6 pages and all visas and stamps in the passport
- Letter of acceptance of the chosen school, 1 original, 3 copy
- Proof of sufficient funds, 1 original, 1 copy (e.g. bank guarantee, bank certificate)
- Certificates/diplomas (certified by a notary and translated into French), 1original and 3 copy
- 2 CV (curriculum vitae), signed by the student
- 2 study plans, signed by the student
- 2 future plans, including professional development intended by the student after having finished his/her studies in Switzerland, explanation on how the student is going to benefit from his/her studies in future, signed by the student
- Any other documentation you consider relevant to your application

To ascertain linguistic proficiency of the student, the Embassy of Switzerland may require a verbal test.

The applicant's application will be forwarded for decision to the responsible immigration authority in Switzerland, therefore the Embassy will charge additional CHF 5.00 for postage. The Embassy of Switzerland can only issue a student visa upon receipt of the authorisation. Please note that the procedure takes approx. 6 - 12 weeks.

Travellers who wish to apply for a student visa must submit their application in person.

VISA APPLICATION FOR CHINESE STUDENTS

Residents of Shanghai, Jiangsu, Anhui and Zhejiang shall apply at the Consulate General of Switzerland in Shanghai: Open from Monday-Friday 09:00-12:00, except holidays - no prior appointment required.

Residents of Guangdong, Fujian, Guangxi and Hainan shall apply at the Consulate General of Switzerland in Guangzhou: Open from Monday-Friday 08:30-11:30, except holidays - no prior appointment required.

Residents of Hong Kong and Macau shall apply at the Consulate General of Switzerland in Hong Kong: Monday-Friday 09:00-12:00, except holidays - no prior appointment required.

All others residents of China, Mongolia and Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) shall apply at the Embassy of Switzerland in Beijing: Monday-Friday 09:00-11:00, except holidays - no prior appointment required.

For Chinese citizens, the original residence card (and copy) needs to be presented to the Embassy or Consulate General, if the issuing place of the passport is different to the issuing place of the residence card.

You must apply a student visa in order to be allowed to study in Switzerland. The procedure can take up to three months, therefore you should initiate it early enough. In order to obtain a student's visa, the following procedure is required:
- The application have to be submitted personally at the Embassy/Consulate General from Monday - Friday during the business hours of the Embassy/Consulate General.
- Please take good note that the interview at the Embassy in Beijing will take place the same day you handed in the application form, but in the afternoon.
- Only complete applications can be accepted (3 visa application forms, 2 sets of documentation as described below).
- Students applying for a student visa for Switzerland must submit their application personally.
The Embassy/Consulate General can request additional documents if necessary.

The complete file of an applicant will be forwarded to Switzerland so as a decision can be taken. During this procedure only the applicant him-/herself can obtain information concerning the state of his/her visa application.

Once the Embassy/Consulate General has received the authorization from Switzerland, the visa will directly be issued. The visa can be collected at the Embassy/Consulate General or it can be delivered by EMS mail service.
