Success of the Vatel Group and in particular that of its Schools stems from five key principles:

1. Deep links between Vatel and its students that are underpinned:

  • On the School's moral commitment to do its utmost so that students will succeed in their professional lives. Students are however expected to comply with School rules.
  • On a warm welcome of others, a true image of what the students will have learned;
  • On a stringent yet honest selection in which Students will be given objective explanation about professions in the hospitality industry and their specificities;
  • On solid commitments laid down in the Commitment Charter signed by each School Director;
  • On values including solidarity, respect, humanity, and generosity, between each member of the teaching staff and students.

2. Dynamic knowledge, founded on the right balance between theoretical university courses and professional internships, as shown by:

  • Professors who are close to their students and who consider their results and successes as personal challenges, who, even though highly specialized in their field are able to bridge the gap between other theoretical and practical subjects being taught;
  • Pragmatic principles advocating repetition so that practice does indeed make perfect in a progressive and sustainable way; by rapid immersion in real life situations to trigger true reflex reactions, and empowerment so that students will have managerial experience;
  • A professional project that is honed as training progresses, taking into account what the students like, what they have learned and experienced, their personalities and networks.


3. Transmitting know-how enabling students:

  • To learn theoretical knowledge progressively, then to practice what they have learned and finally to use this knowledge during their internships;
  • To be able to see themselves more easily in their professional project because of this hands-on experience;
    To rapidly gain self-confidence;
  • To be immersed in the reality of a company;
  • To know all the details of the tasks they will be managing later.


4. The Hospitality Industry and tourism have unique, specific codes and values:

  • A dress-code, a language, a warm and welcoming attitude;
  • Respect of others and of humanity in general, something necessary for all Managers;
  • An open-minded attitude towards different cultures, and fluency in foreign languages.


5. A sustainable and positive relationship with other professionals in the Hospitality Industry by:

  • Inviting professionals to give talks on the School's different campuses;
  • Having Schools participate in different professional meetings (exhibitions, conferences, etc.);
  • Responding to needs of professionals in the industry by changing training courses;
  • Having a dynamic Vatelien network.
